Initial Report on Preservation Ecosystem Management on 13/08/2014

This document introduces the concept of a digital ecosystem as an approach to conceptualize digital preservation. In comparison to other approaches the digital ecosystem concept explicitly tries to capture dependencies involving non-technical aspects, in addition to technical ones. In the current version the digital ecosystem is considered to consist of entities which are subject to different kinds of change and which are connected by different kinds of dependencies. By explicitly modelling the digital ecosystem as a dependency graph the preservation of key features can be planned, managed and supported by tools.
